Redmi 17C Launched in China With Helio G81 Ultra, 120Hz LCD Display, 5,160mAh Battery: Price & Specifications

Redmi has launched its newest budget phone, the Redmi 17C, in China on June 23, 2026, as the successor to last September’s Redmi 15C. The phone arrives in three colour options and sticks to the essentials that matter most at this price range: a bigger battery, a smoother display, and a chipset with a proven track record, rather than a major redesign or camera overhaul. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed a Redmi 17C Nepal launch yet, but a China debut like this one often precedes a wider regional rollout.

⚡ Highlights:
  • MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra, 4GB RAM
  • 6.88″ HD+ LCD, 120Hz, 600 nits
  • 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera
  • 5,160mAh Battery with 18W charging

Up front sits a 6.88-inch HD+ panel running at 720×1640 pixels. It’s an IPS LCD screen rather than AMOLED, which keeps costs down without skipping out on smoothness, since Redmi has built in a 120Hz refresh rate alongside a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Brightness peaks at 600 nits under HBM, with 450 nits as the everyday figure.

Xiaomi also picked up TÜV Rheinland certifications covering low blue light, flicker-free output, and circadian-friendly viewing, details that matter more to night-time scrollers than spec-sheet readers. The phone itself measures 171.9×77.8×8.2mm and weighs 206 grams, with the fingerprint sensor tucked into the side frame for quick unlocking.

Performance

Inside, Redmi went with the octa-core MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra, the same chip that powered the Redmi 15C before it. Two Cortex-A75 cores run at 2.0GHz, backed by six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz, with graphics handled by a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.

Buyers get 4GB of RAM as standard, with a choice between 64GB and 128GB storage, plus a dedicated microSD slot if that’s not enough. Don’t expect a performance leap over the previous generation here; the upgrades this time live elsewhere, mainly in battery capacity and screen refresh rate. HyperOS 3 runs on top of Android 16 to handle the software side.

Camera

Photography was never going to be the headline feature on a phone like this, and Redmi hasn’t pretended otherwise. The rear camera is a single 13-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash, capped at 1080p video recording at 30fps.

Selfies and video calls fall to a 5-megapixel front camera, also limited to 1080p at 30fps. It’s a no-frills setup, and anyone who shoots a lot of photos might want to look at a different Redmi model, but for casual use and quick video calls, it should hold up just fine.

Battery and Connectivity

This is where the Redmi 17C earns attention. A 5,160mAh battery sits inside, noticeably larger than what most phones in this price bracket offer, and it supports charging speeds up to 18W over PD. One catch: the box only includes a 10W charger, so hitting that full 18W speed means buying a separate adapter.

On the connectivity side, there’s 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS with BeiDou, Galileo, and GLONASS support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack still intact. NFC didn’t make the cut, which is worth knowing if tap-to-pay is part of your daily routine.

Redmi 17C Price and Availability in Nepal

The Redmi 17C is priced at CNY 799 for the 4GB/64GB variant and CNY 899 for the 4GB/128GB variant in China.

Redmi 17C 4G Price in China (Official) Price in Nepal (Converted)
4/64GB CNY 799 NPR 18,000
4/128GB CNY 899 NPR 20,500

Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed an official Redmi 17C Nepal launch yet, so these figures are rough estimates and could shift once taxes and import duties are added.

Conclusion

Redmi didn’t try to overhaul the formula with this one, and it didn’t need to. A roomy battery, a refresh-rate bump, and pricing that stays firmly in entry-level territory make a fair pitch for the segment, and whether a Redmi 17C Nepal release happens is still an open question, but buyers will know exactly what they’re signing up for if it does.
