Huawei Mate 90 Pro Overview
Design and Display

Starting with the screen, the Huawei Mate 90 Pro features a flat 6.75-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED panel with 1280 x 2832 resolution, about 460 ppi, and a screen-to-body ratio close to 90%. The adaptive refresh rate runs from 1Hz to 120Hz, which keeps scrolling smooth while saving power on static content. It supports 1 billion colors and HDR Vivid, with 1440Hz PWM dimming to ease eye strain and 300Hz touch sampling. Huawei rates peak brightness at 12,000 nits, but that figure applies to a small bright area at 1% APL, not the whole screen.

The body measures 161.9 x 75.7 x 8mm and weighs 222g. Third-generation Kunlun glass protects the front, and Huawei says drop resistance improves by over 50% compared with the Mate 80 series. Kunlun optical glass covers the camera lenses, and nylon fiber inside the body adds extra protection. IP68 allows submersion up to 6 meters, while IP69 covers hot, high-pressure water jets. The phone comes in four colors: Emerald Green, Amber Orange, Crystal White, and Obsidian Black. The back keeps the central-axis look with a lattice pattern and a floating star ring around the camera module.

Performance
The Kirin 9035 is the star here, and the Huawei Mate 90 Pro is the first device to use it. The chip runs at a top clock speed of 2.85GHz and pairs with the Maleoon 935 GPU. Compared with the Kirin 9030, Huawei claims an 11% CPU gain, a 10% GPU gain and a 51% jump in NPU performance, which should help AI tasks the most. The company’s own app tests on HarmonyOS show roughly 10% better overall performance, and it says the chip, HarmonyOS 7 and cloud computing together can lift speed further.

Hardware-level ray tracing is also on board, handling up to 31 million rays per second, though only in supported game scenes. Memory comes in 12GB and 16GB options, while storage runs from 256GB up to 1TB. There is no memory card slot, so the storage choice matters at purchase. A dedicated Mobile Security Processor adds post-quantum cryptography for unlocking and payments, a rare feature on phones at this point.
Camera

The Huawei Mate 90 Pro camera system has three rear lenses, all built on RYYB sensors. The main camera is 50MP with optical stabilization and a variable aperture from F1.4 to F4.0. A wide aperture gives softer portrait backgrounds, while the narrow setting keeps whole groups sharp and helps hold video brightness steady between bright and dark areas. The 50MP telephoto offers 4x optical zoom and 8x optical-quality zoom, and it also works as a macro lens from just 5cm away. The 40MP ultrawide completes the set.
Huawei also adds its third-generation Red Maple primary-color camera, which it says improves color accuracy by 37%. For selfies, a 13MP ultrawide front camera with autofocus sits beside the 3D ToF face unlock system, which also includes a depth sensor and an AI posture sensor. XMAGE guidance can suggest one of 13 group poses and one of 14 composition layouts within the 4x zoom range, though the composition tips must be switched on manually. Food recommendations and a live-streaming mode that tracks products add to the camera software.
Battery and Connectivity

The Huawei Mate 90 Pro comes with a 6,600mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The wireless speed needs Huawei’s own charger and a 66W or higher charging kit. Reverse wireless charging and 18W reverse wired charging are included. Huawei rates the battery for up to 41 hours of video playback. An outdoor mode stretches battery life up to 15 days, and Petal Maps can run 36 hours of screen-off navigation.
For connectivity, the phone supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an infrared port, a USB Type-C 3.1 port, and dual nano-SIM with eSIM options. It can switch between Wi-Fi and cellular antennas automatically, and up to four nearby HarmonyOS 7 devices can pool connections. BeiDou satellite messaging works only in mainland China. A security processor with post-quantum cryptography protects unlocking and payments.

HarmonyOS 7 and AI Features
The phone ships with HarmonyOS 7, and several AI tools will arrive later through HOTA updates. Xiaoyi Notes saves on-screen content such as social posts and to-do items with a swipe down, then organizes it automatically. Xiaoyi call help can book restaurants, answer missed calls, translate conversations in real time and write call summaries. Trigger-based AI reads the screen after a long press on the Xiaoyi navigation bar and suggests the next step, such as opening the right app after an address or cloud drive link is copied.
Other touches include 3D dynamic photos, which turn still images into short 3D clips and work best with a single person or pet. A voice-changer detection feature warns about possibly fake voices on carrier calls, MeeTime and WeChat, though Huawei says the warnings are for reference only. Child-safety controls sit under the Healthy Use of Mobile Phone menu in Settings.

Conclusion
Overall, the Huawei Mate 90 Pro looks like a strong flagship, with a big 6,600mAh battery, a bright 120Hz dual-layer OLED screen, a flexible variable-aperture camera, and a tough IP68 and IP69 body. The Kirin 9035 chip is the first of its kind and 100W wired charging is handy, but wireless charging drops to 50W and several of Huawei’s percentage claims still need real-world testing. Huawei has not announced a global launch, so Nepali buyers should wait for official news before planning a purchase.
