Tecno has recently launched 2 new models in Kenya under the Camon 50 series, the Tecno Camon 50 and the Tecno Camon 50 Pro and both are looking like decent upgrades over the Camon 40. Tecno went bigger on the battery and bumped up the display on both models. We will focus on the standard Camon 50 here. If you are wondering about the Tecno Camon 50 Nepal price and release, keep reading because we break it all down below.
Display & Design

Tecno put a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen on the Camon 50 and gave it a 144Hz refresh rate with 1.5K resolution. The previous model, the Camon 40, had a 120Hz screen with FHD+ resolution so this is a clear jump. The phone is 7.53mm thick and comes in Moonlight Black, Malachite Green and Lavender Mist. Nothing too flashy on the design side but the display upgrade alone makes it feel like a newer phone.
Performance

Tecno swapped the Helio G100 Ultimate from the Camon 40 with the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate on this one. Both chips are 4G, so do not expect a night-and-day difference in speed. It runs fine for regular use like browsing, social media and streaming. Gaming is okay too, but if you are someone who plays heavy titles daily, this chip will likely slow you down after a while. On the software side, it boots on HiOS 16 with Android 16, which is actually ahead of many phones sitting at this price tag.
Camera

Camera hardware did not change much this generation. You still get a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide at the back. The front camera is 32MP. OIS is the one thing that actually helps here, especially when shooting videos or clicking photos in low light with shaky hands. But if you were hoping for a big camera upgrade over the Camon 40, this is not it.
Battery

This is probably the biggest reason to pick up the Camon 50. Tecno went from 5,200mAh on the Camon 40 to 6500mAh on this one, which is a pretty large jump. You should easily get through a full day, and on lighter days maybe even push into a second day. Charging is 45W wired. It is not super fast by today’s standards, but fills up the big battery in a reasonable time. Tecno also says the battery stays healthy for over 5 years.
Audio, Connectivity & Other Features
The Camon 50 has dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, which makes a difference when watching videos or listening to music without earphones. You also get NFC, an IR blaster, FM radio and USB-C with OTG support. The sensor setup includes an electronic compass and a geomagnetic sensor. Nothing out of the ordinary but it covers what most people need day to day.

Tecno Camon 50 Price and Availability in Nepal
Tecno launched the Camon 50 in Kenya at KES 34,999 for the 8GB/128GB version, with sales starting February 23. Tecno has not said anything about bringing it to Nepal yet. Going by past Tecno launches here, NPR 25,999 feels like a fair guess for the starting price if it does show up.
| Tecno Camon 50 | Price in Kenya (Official) | Price in Nepal (Expected) |
|---|---|---|
| 8GB / 256GB | KES 34,999 | NPR 25,999 |
Conclusion
The Camon 50 is not trying to be anything special. Tecno played it safe, fixed the battery, made the screen better and left everything else mostly alone. That is not a bad thing if you just want a phone that lasts the day and looks good doing it. The camera and chip are not reasons to buy it but the battery size alone might be enough for a lot of people. If Tecno Camon 50 Nepal launch happens, it will likely sit in a spot where not many phones offer this battery size at that price.
