Xiaomi has added one more phone to its Xiaomi 17 series, and this time it is the biggest one yet. The Xiaomi 17 Max was announced at the company’s May 2026 event in China, which also brought us the Xiaomi YU7 GT electric car, Xiaomi Band 10 Pro, and Xiaomi Ear Clip TWS. The phone runs on the octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and gets a Leica-tuned camera system with a 200MP main shooter sitting at the top. What really stands out though is the battery, as the Xiaomi 17 Max carries the biggest battery in the whole Xiaomi 17 family.
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor
- 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED 120Hz display
- 200MP Leica-tuned triple rear camera
- 8,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging
Display and Design

The Xiaomi 17 Max packs a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 1,200 x 2,608 pixel resolution. The refresh rate goes from 1Hz all the way to 120Hz, so it stays smooth during gaming and drops down to save battery when you are just reading. Brightness goes up to 3,500 nits, which means the screen stays visible even on a bright sunny day. On top of that, it supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HDR Vivid.
Xiaomi has thrown in Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 as well, which the company claims takes drops much better than regular glass. The phone is available in Pixel Black, Sky Blue, and White, and sits behind an IP68 and IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.
Performance

The Xiaomi 17 Max runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 3nm chip that clocks up to 4.6GHz. You get up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of fast UFS 4.1 storage, which keeps everything quick and responsive.
Gamers will appreciate the 5,500mm² vapor chamber inside, which stops the phone from heating up during long sessions. The software side runs HyperOS 3 on top of Android 16, and Xiaomi is promising four big updates along with six years of security support.
Camera

The camera is honestly one of the biggest reasons to get excited about this phone. The Xiaomi 17 Max camera system is Leica-tuned and built around a 200MP Samsung HP9 sensor with an f/1.65 aperture, optical image stabilization, and a 23mm focal length. There is also a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide that covers a 102-degree angle. Up front, a 32MP camera takes care of selfies and video calls. The phone can shoot videos at up to 4K at 30fps, which is solid for this price range.
