    Display & Design

This phone does not look like your typical foldable. When you open it up, you get a 7.7-inch LTPO OLED panel that sits in a widescreen 16:11 ratio, which feels more like a mini tablet you can actually hold comfortably. The outer screen is a 5.4-inch OLED display and Huawei has protected it with their second-gen Kunlun glass.

Both screens go up to 120Hz and hit over 3,000 nits of brightness in peak conditions. Folded up, the phone is 85mm wide and 11.2mm thick. Open it and it stretches to 166.5mm wide but slims down to just 5.2mm. On top of that it carries both IP58 and IP59 ratings which is not something you see on most foldables out there.

    Performance

Huawei went with their own Kirin 9030 Pro chip on this one, built on a 6nm process. Compared to the Kirin 9020 in last year’s Pura X, they are claiming around 25% better CPU speeds, 40% GPU gains and a massive 70% jump in NPU performance. Storage options go all the way up to 16GB RAM and 1TB internal storage. The software side runs on HarmonyOS 6.1 which comes loaded with a bunch of AI tools like hands-free reading through eye tracking, a built-in fraud detection system and an AI assistant that can handle tasks running across multiple apps at once.

    Camera & AI posing tool

The camera setup on the back has three lenses. The main one is a 50MP shooter with a variable aperture between f/1.4 and f/4.0 along with OIS. Then there is a 12.5MP ultrawide and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom that also has OIS and can push up to 100x digital zoom. Both displays get their own 8MP front cameras. One feature that caught quite a bit of attention is the AI posing tool. It reads your background and suggests a pose that fits the scene. Huawei says this is a world first and it sounds like something people will either love or completely ignore.

    Battery & Connectivity

Battery capacity sits at 5,300mAh which is a solid step up from what the Pura X offered before. Charging comes in at 66W wired and 50W wireless.

Connectivity covers pretty much everything you need including 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and USB-C. It also supports multiple satellite systems for navigation including GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and NavIC. And for people who like writing on their phone, the main display works with the Huawei M-Pen 3 stylus.

    Conclusion

The Huawei Pura X Max is one of the more interesting phones to come out this year. The wide display format feels like a real step forward for foldables and the hardware underneath backs it up well. Whether it ever officially makes it to Nepal or not, it sets a bar that other brands are now going to have to respond to. If you have been waiting on a foldable that actually makes sense for watching content and getting work done at the same time, this one is worth keeping an eye on.
